THE COOSA VALLEY CHAPTER OF TROUT UNLIMITED "CVCTU" IS VERY ACTIVE IN THE COMMUNITY HAVING HOSTED THE KIDS FISHING DAY AT CAVE SPRING GEORGIA FOR THE LAST 31 YEARS AND THE CHILI COOK OFF FOR WHAT THIS YEAR WILL BE IT'S 24th YEAR.

THE CHILI COOK OFF ATTRACTS THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE TO SAMPLE CHILI FROM COOKING TEAMS THAT COME FROM FAR AND WIDE. AS THEY EAT THE FOLKS CAN ENJOY LIVE MUSIC THROUGHOUT THE DAY. THE COOK OFF IS THE MAJOR FUND RAISER FOR THE CHAPTER.

VETERANS FISHING DAY OCCURS AT CAVE SPRING. THIS WILL BE OUR 7th EVENT. IT IS FOR VETERANS OF ALL WARS AND  ACTIVE MILITARY ARE WELCOME ALSO. THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR VETS TO COME AND CATCH A TROUT AND LEARN HOW TO FLY FISH. .

THERE ARE SEVERAL BENIFICIARIES OF THE FUNDS RAISED AT THECOOK OFF. MOST OF THE MONEY RAISED GOES TO EDUCATION OF YOUTH AND ADULTS.

WE HAVE ESTABLISHED 2 ENDOWMENTS AT THE WARNELL SCHOOL OF FORESTRY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA.

WE ARE A MAJOR BENEFACTOR OF THE ARROWHEAD OUTDOOR EDUCATION CENTER ON FLOYD SPRINGS ROAD.

WE HAVE ALSO HELPED TO FUND THE BUILDING OF AN INDOOR TROUT STREAM AT THE ROME FLOYD ECO CENTER.

CVCTU HAS ON-STREAM WORK DAYS ON SEVERAL STREAMS IN NORTHWEST GEORGIA.

STREAMS THAT WE FOCUS ON ARE ROCK CREEK AND HOLLY CREEK IN MURRAY COUNTY, JOHNS CREEK IN FLOYD COUNTY, RACCOON CREEK IN PAULDING COUNTY AND MOUNTAINTOWN CREEK IN GILMER COUNTY.

WE OFTEN PARTNER WITH OTHER TU CHAPTERS FOR WORKDAYS  AT OTHER STREAMSACROSS THE STATE.

THE CHAPTER DOES MORE THAN WORK. WE ALSO FISH IN LOCAL STREAMS NEAR ROME AND ALL ACROSS NORTH GEORGIA.

THE CHAPTER HAS GROUP TRIPS TO DISTANT DESTINATIONS.

CHEROKEE NORTH CAROLINA IS A REGULAR DESTINATION FOR OUR MEMBERS.

GROUPS FROM THREE TO A OVER A DOZEN STAY IN RIVERSIDE CABINS AND USUALLY RETURN WITH GREAT STORIES AND REPORTS OF FISH SURPASSING 20 INCHES.

FOR SEVERAL YEARS WE HAVE HAD A GROUP GOING ON A WEEK LONG TRIP TO CANADA.

THE WHITE RIVER IN ARKANSAS IS A REGULAR FISHING HOLE FOR AS MANY AS 34 OF THE COOSA VALLEY CHAPTER MEMBERS AND THERE IS USUALLY A GROUP TRIP PLANNED ONCE OR TWICE A YEAR IN SEPTEMBER.
