THE COOSA VALLEY CHAPTER PAST & PRESENT
THE COOSA VALLEY CHAPTER OF TROUT UNLIMITED WAS CHARTERED ON AUGUST 7th 1986.
THE CHAPTER IS A 501(c)3 TAX FREE ORGANIZATION BASED OUT OF ROME GEORGIA AND MEETS MONTHLY ON THE 3RD THURSDAY OF EACH MONTH AT SAM'S BURGER-DELI IN ARMUCHEE, GA AT 5:30 PM.
SOMETIMES THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS FOR SOME OUTING MEETINGS.
THESE OUTING MEETINGS USUALLY TAKE PLACE IN MAY AND SOMETIMES IN SEPTEMBER.

THE COOSA VALLEY CHAPTER OF TROUT UNLIMITED "CVCTU" IS VERY ACTIVE IN THE COMMUNITY HAVING HOSTED THE KIDS FISHING DAY AT CAVE SPRING GEORGIA FOR THE LAST 32 YEARS.
FLY FISHING FOR VETERANS' DAY OCCURS IN CAVE SPRING. THIS WILL BE OUR 8th EVENT. IT IS FOR VETERANS OF ALL WARS AND ACTIVE MILITARY ARE WELCOME ALSO. THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR VETS TO COME AND CATCH A TROUT AND LEARN HOW TO FLY FISH. .
THERE ARE SEVERAL BENIFICIARIES OF THE FUNDS RAISED AT THECOOK OFF. MOST OF THE MONEY RAISED GOES TO EDUCATION OF YOUTH AND ADULTS.
WE HAVE ESTABLISHED 2 ENDOWMENTS AT THE WARNELL SCHOOL OF FORESTRY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA.
WE ARE A MAJOR BENEFACTOR OF THE ARROWHEAD OUTDOOR EDUCATION CENTER ON FLOYD SPRINGS ROAD.
WE HAVE ALSO HELPED TO FUND THE BUILDING OF AN INDOOR TROUT STREAM AT THE ROME FLOYD ECO CENTER.
CVCTU HAS ON-STREAM WORK DAYS ON SEVERAL STREAMS IN NORTHWEST GEORGIA.
STREAMS THAT WE FOCUS ON ARE ROCK CREEK, JOHNS CREEK IN FLOYD COUNTY, RACCOON CREEK IN PAULDING COUNTY AND MOUNTAINTOWN CREEK IN GILMER COUNTY.
WE OFTEN PARTNER WITH OTHER TU CHAPTERS FOR WORKDAYS AT OTHER STREAMSACROSS THE STATE.
THE CHAPTER DOES MORE THAN WORK. WE ALSO FISH IN LOCAL STREAMS NEAR ROME AND ALL ACROSS NORTH GEORGIA.
THE CHAPTER HAS GROUP TRIPS TO DISTANT DESTINATIONS.
CHEROKEE NORTH CAROLINA IS A REGULAR DESTINATION FOR OUR MEMBERS.
GROUPS FROM THREE TO A OVER A DOZEN STAY IN RIVERSIDE CABINS AND USUALLY RETURN WITH GREAT STORIES AND REPORTS OF FISH SURPASSING 20 INCHES.
FOR SEVERAL YEARS WE HAVE HAD A GROUP GOING ON A WEEK LONG TRIP TO CANADA.
THE WHITE RIVER IN ARKANSAS IS A REGULAR FISHING SPOT FOR AS MANY AS 34 OF THE COOSA VALLEY CHAPTER MEMBERS AND THERE IS USUALLY A GROUP TRIP PLANNED ONCE A YEAR IN EARLY SEPTEMBER FOR 6 NIGHTS. SEVERAL OF US BRING A KAYAK OR CANOE TO FLOAT SEVERAL LENGHTS OF THE RIVER EACH DAY.
