ARROWHEAD ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION CENTER
THE PHOTOS SHOW THE KIDS AND THE FACILITY.
THE EDUCATION CENTER COULD NOT FUNCTION WITHOUT THE LEADERSHIP OF IT'S DIRECTOR AND PRIMARY INSTRUCTOR VIVIAN DAVIS.
HER STAFF INCLUDES TERELL SHAW AND MARILYN MCLEAN.
PART OF THE FUNCTION OF ARROWHEAD IS TO TEACH THE TEACHERS.
INSTRUCTORS FROM SCHOOLS IN THE AREA COME TO ARROWHEAD TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE OUT OF DOORS, NATURE AND HOW TO GET THE CHILDREN TO UNDERSTAND THAT NATURE IS ALL AROUND THEM.
CHILDREN GROWING UP IN TODAYS WORLD DOMINATED BY I-PHONES, COMPUTERS, VIDEO GAMES AND FACEBOOK SPEND MUCH MORE TIME INDOORS THAN THEIR PARENTS AND GRAND PARENTS EVER DID. AS A RESULT MANY OF THESE KIDS ONLY KNOW NATURE AS SOMETHING THEY SEE ON TELEVISION.
ONE OF THE CHILDREN STATED THAT THEY WANTED TO COME BACK TO ARROWHEAD SO THAT THEY COULD SEE NATURE.
THE INSTRUCTOR TOLD THE CHILD THAT NATURE IS IN THEIR BACK YARD AND THAT THE BIRDS, SQUIRRELS AND BUTTERFLIES LIVE AND VISIT THERE.
ARROWHEAD HAS A GOAL OF HELPING KIDS TO BECOME AQUAINTED WITH NATURE AND TO HAVE THEM UNDERSTAND THE VALUE OF CLEAN WATER, A HEALTHY FOREST AND CLEAN AIR. THE CHILDREN LEARN THAT THESE THINGS ARE NECESSARY FOR ALL ANIMALS TO LIVE INCLUDING HUMANS.
