CVCTU Cedar Strip Canoe Raffle

Coosa Valley Chapter volunteers started the project in mid June 2016 and completed the canoe in mid November the same year.

Under the leadership of Ron Sitterding and Jody Fincher the progerss went very smoothly. Initially Ron had talked to Charlie Gilbreath (CVCTU member) to see if our chapter would like to build a canoe for a fund raiser. After approval by the membership, the wood was ordered and shipped to Coosa Valley Cabinets. Jody (Coosa Valley Cabinets) donated the use of his cabinet shop, time, and tools on Rockmart Rd for the time and space necessary to do the build. We started the project in June and after 546 man hours, the canoe was completed in November.

Cedar Creek RV and Outdoor Center in Cave Spring donated two wooden paddles and deserves our thanks for their support over the years. Raffle tickets are available here as well as from any Coosa Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited member. The winner of the raffle will also receive a photo album showing the building process from start to finish.

For the 15 volunteers, it was a labor of love and committment. The hard work shows in the finished canoe.

*You can view the canoe at the United Community Bank at 307 E. 2nd Ave. Rome, GA 30161 (706-234-5800) where raffle tickets are available.

Raffle tickets are $25 each or 5 for $100. As of 8/01/2017 we have only about 250 raffle tickets left. Leave a message on my cell phone (615-397-4115, Steve) and I will see that you get as many tickets as you wish. The funds collected go to finance CVCTU's Mission Statement:

The drawing will be held at the Truot Unlimited Chili Cook Off on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017. This will be your last chance to purchase tickets!

      We appreciate you support.
